When is the best time to get married?
Koh Samui has a wonderful year-round climate with consistent tropical temperatures of between 25 and 30 degrees Celsius. The best months for an outdoor wedding are February to October. The ideal time of day for your ceremony would be late afternoon, just before the sunset.
What if it rains on our special day?
For outdoor venues, we would strongly recommend hiring a marquee tent. There are many sizes and shapes of marquee for you to choose from and we will make suggestions based on the number of guests.
What size weddings can be hosted at Samujana?
Most of our weddings have between 30 and 60 guests, however we have also regularly hosted smaller intimate weddings and larger lavish celebrations of up to 250 guests.
What venues are available at Samujana?
The ‘Big Lawn’ is the most spectacular wedding venue available on the island and can comfortably host your entire wedding day, from ceremony and photos near the seafront to spectacular dining on the main lawn to dancing under the fireworks. The ‘Little Lawn’ is intimately poised between Villa 20 and the ocean and is perfect for smaller, elegant events.
A number of our villas are ideal for weddings and feature spectacular views, fantastic gardens and dramatic spaces.
How many weddings do you do in one day?
One! Only yours, you have our full attention.
When should I start planning my wedding?
Destination weddings can be challenging. Traditionally, couples book their wedding at Samujana at least a year in advance. However, you can plan a wedding in a relatively short period of time depending on how elaborate you wish the ceremony to be. For legal civil ceremonies, please contact us at least 90 days prior to your desired wedding date. We can accept last minute bookings for non-official ceremonies, up to 4 weeks prior.
Can I enlist my own wedding planner?
Yes, our venue specialist will work with your planner to ensure all details are taken care of. We work with all of the best wedding and event planners in the region and would be delighted to recommend these to you.

How much does a wedding at Samujana cost?
Arrangements are designed to suit your budget, with a wide choice of locations, dining options, decorations, entertainment and other details to create your unique wedding celebration.
May I marry at Samujana if I’m staying at another resort?
For your convenience, we perform weddings exclusively for guests of Samujana. A minimum number of guests must be staying at Samujana.
Do you offer photography and video services?
Packages and resort location schedules are offered at competitive rates in digital or print and vary according to individual budget and options.
Is it possible to have a party after the ceremony and/ or a BBQ or pool party at the villa the following day? Yes, you may have it at your villa but please be reminded that a guest fee may be applied if the number of guests attending the party exceeds the number of guests staying in the villa.
What are the rules applied for having a party at the villa?
All food and beverages must be served in cans or plastic glasses. Live music, DJs and/or amplified music may be permitted until 12am. Internal villa music is permitted after 12am at a reasonable volume which does not disturb any other villa.. Extra charges may apply for staffing, including overtime. Samujana will not be responsible for any personal belongings. Samujana reserves the right to charge guests for any damage and/or loss to the premises. Parties in villas must finish by 2am.
Are children allowed in the villa?
Children of all ages are more than welcome.
Do you allow floating lanterns to be released?
Due to the layout architectural design of the estate and villas, we do not allow the release of floating lanterns.
Can we have a fireworks display?
Fireworks are strictly prohibited from use at the estate without the written consent from our management team. For safety reasons, we only work with licensed vendors and full details need to be given to Samujana a minimum of 2 weeks prior to the event.
Is there a chef standby at the villa throughout our stay?
Certain villa categories have a chef included in the rate. All other private chef bookings must be made at least 24 hours in advance and charges will apply.
How do I reserve my room at Samujana?
You can reserve your villa(s) through our venue specialist weddings@samujana.com.
Is there a special room rate for wedding couples? And a group rate if a block of rooms is reserved for the wedding party?
Special rates may be available. Please contact our venue specialist to enquire.
If our group has different flights on arrival or departure, will you be arranging the airport transfer for us?
2 x return minivan transfers are included. As soon as we have received the flight details, we will arrange the airport transfer according to the date and time of each flight.
Can you arrange transport to Chaweng or elsewhere on the island?
A range of transport options are available. We can arrange taxis, minivans and drivers as well as rented vehicles.
Do you have a minimum length of stay when booking villas for a wedding?
In low season periods, we require a minimum of 2 nights stay. For high season periods, the minimum stay would ideally be 5 nights.
Not all of our guests will stay at Samujana. Can you recommend alternative options in the area?
Absolutely! We can recommend alternative options and may also be able to secure special rates on your behalf. Please enquire with our venue specialist.
Do you have a wedding or honeymoon suite?
We do not have designated wedding/honeymoon suites in the villa. However, each villa has its own master bedroom which is suitable for wedding couple and honeymooners with a private space in the villa.
Will my marriage in Thailand be legally recognised?
A marriage in Thailand is a legal union pursuant to Thai law and is normally recognized throughout the world. This allows for certain benefits to marrying in Thailand. For individuals with trans-national issues, where one or more spouse is from a different country, Thailand is a very convenient location in which to marry.
Can I have a priest perform a legal marriage?
No, priests do not have legal jurisdiction. However, we are able to arrange a priest for a non-official religious wedding ceremony.
Can we arrange a wedding in a church?
This is possible but not recommended. Thailand is a predominantly Buddhist country and the churches on the island are not generally suitable for a wedding ceremony.
Can we have a Thai wedding ceremony?
Absolutely. Thai wedding ceremonies are the most popular and we will arrange monks, water blessing, white thread ceremony and many more unique experiences.
What are the conditions and requirements for civil ceremonies?
To officially get married on Koh Samui, your details must be submitted at least 7 days prior to the marriage date. ‘Declaration of Status’ form and copies of your passports must be submitted to the embassy of your country in Bangkok.
All documents are then translated at an authorized translation bureau for processing and endorsement. This will take 3 working days. If you hire an agent, the documents will be express couriered directly to Samujana. Alternatively, you can collect the documents in Bangkok once completed. Once you have received the documents and arrived in Koh Samui, you will then have a meeting with the Registrar of Koh Samui in Nathon and make an appointment with the Registrar to attend your wedding ceremony. This process takes about 2 days. The Registrar will be present at the ceremony along with the Marriage Certificate, ready for you to sign.
What type of celebrants conduct the marriage ceremony?
We have a range of celebrants offering religious and non-religious ceremonies, including options for commitment ceremonies, vow renewals or confirmations. You may choose to have either a male or female celebrant /official to conduct your ceremony.
