Tips in Planning a Beautiful Destination Wedding

Planning a wedding that isn’t close to home? A destination wedding is a fun way to get married while you, your friends and family are all on vacation together. Planning a destination wedding starts with choosing a destination and selecting a venue that fits your budget, party size and style. It’s a nice idea to take a trip there in advance, to check out options in person before committing. Hire a planner to manage the unforeseen logistics of your wedding. You can ask your wedding planning team these questions and they will help you get all the details in place ahead of your wedding day.

Reserve a block of rooms in a resort so they don’t have to research where to stay. You may get them a discounted rate too. Make sure the venue is accessible for the guests. Don’t forget to think about your guests’ convenience, and how difficult or easy it’s going to be to make it to the location. This can also affect the ease of transporting and setting up chairs, tables, and food delivery.

Make your décor windproof to suit the outdoors, especially in windy locations. Prepare for a windy day, even when not expected. Use heavier items to weigh things down like programmes, or just get heavyweight stands. You can also tie programmes neatly to chairs. Avoid using decors such as windy ribbons and balloons, towering candles and super lavish flowers, as these things may just end up getting blown away by the wind. Use sturdy décor and avoid breakable items. Secure your valuable items like photos, name tags etc. with adhesive. In choosing flowers, select varieties that won’t wilt before the wedding begins. Orchids, king protea, chrysanthemums and calla lilies stand up well against high temperatures.

Select proper wedding attire. Wear something that doesn’t cause you to overheat. Look for a dress with a lightweight fabric. It’s better to go with fabrics like charmeuse or chiffon which will make your gown flow freely. In windy temperature, a long veil can have you fighting a not so cute windy battle. Use fresh flowers or a fascinator instead. Fancy updos go with just about everything. An updo will help prevent your hair from taking on a life of its own during your wedding.

With outdoor weddings, it’s good to monitor the weather so you know what to expect. To avoid the heat, consider a sunset or morning ceremony. Use a canopy to cover the seating area or get bamboo poles which can be draped with white, light fabric to keep everyone cool. Food that’s supposed to be refrigerated will spoil quickly in high temperatures, so pick wisely. In cake selection, cakes made with buttercream may fight a losing battle against the heat. Don’t pick anything that’s going to spoil or melt fast.
