Samujana Joined Jerusalem Dance Challenge To Bring Hope Amidst COVID

Last 2020, amidst the coronavirus pandemic, a popular South African song, and dance called “Jerusalem” by Master KG and Nomcebo became a viral sensation. The Jerusalem Dance Challenge has united people amidst the COVID pandemic and brought creativity and togetherness.

This dance challenge began last February 2020, as Covid-19 caused lockdowns in most parts of the world. Jerusalem dance became viral when an Angolan dance troupe called Fenómenos do Semba did a dance video using this song with plates of food in hand.

From Southern Africa to Austria, Germany, India, and Spain, the viral dance challenge “Jerusalem” has been viral in a lot of countries around the world. How did the #jerusalemdancechallenge get so popular and why is it linked to South Africa’s Heritage Day?

September 24 is celebrated in South Africa as Heritage Day. Before the celebration of Heritage Day, President Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa encouraged Africans to do the Jerusalem Dance Challenge and show the world what they are capable of.

The staff at Samujana Villas has joined “The Jerusalem Dance” challenge and the hashtag #WeAreTogether that spread hope amidst COVID around the world. John Dopere, Director at Samujana Villas, stated that the Jerusalem dance performed by Samujana’s team aims to spread happiness and hope to their guests. The Jerusalem song was adapted from an old gospel hymn.

This song describes returning to a better place and uniting with others to go there. Our team at Samujana believes that many people can relate to this message after more than a year of sorrow and isolation due to lockdowns caused by the pandemic.

Even though we are in a pandemic right now, our team at Samujana enjoyed being reunited again and created happy memories in the making of this dance video. We believe that when spontaneity meets excitement, great things can happen!

Our team at Samujana is looking forward to more happy moments this 2021. This is a great opportunity for our team to connect and spread happiness after such a long time.
